If none of our standard finishes is quite right, we can develop a color for your project. Start with the sample panels in our showroom; a color sample is run for approval after commitment to an order over 1,000 square feet.
- 1
Bring a reference
A paint chip, fabric, photo, an existing floor — or start from one of our finishes like Bourbon, Saddle or Mackinaw.
- 2
Choose species and texture
Color reads differently on white oak, red oak, hickory or maple, and on smooth versus wire brushed boards. We help you pick the base.
- 3
Review showroom panels
Compare existing color panels at our Livonia showroom before committing to your floor.
- 4
Approve your color
After you commit to an order over 1,000 square feet, we run a color sample for your approval before the full production run.
- 5
Finish to match
Your flooring is finished to the approved sample, then installed — we recommend our installation partner, 1 Wood Floors.
Tips for choosing a color
- Compare showroom panels in person — lighting changes how color appears.
- Lower sheens and wire brushing hide dust and scratches better than high gloss.
- Very light and very dark colors show more everyday wear than mid-tones.
Designers can start a custom color program from the Designers & Architects page. Homeowners can ask about showroom panels or book a consultation.
